“Crafting Freedom: Black Artisans, Entrepreneurs and Abolitionists of the Antebellum Upper South”
Crafting Freedom Workshop - “Crafting Freedom: Black Artisans, Entrepreneurs and Abolitionists of the Antebellum Upper South” is a National Endowment for the Humanities-sponsored Landmarks of American History and Culture workshop. Classroom teachers as well as media specialists, administrators, substitute teachers and others are eligible to apply to attend. Selected participants get a $1,200 stipend to cover expenses; seminars by top scholars, teacher mentors and artisans; free classroom-tested media and materials; and tours to off-the-beaten track historic sites and archives.
