COMMON CORE AND ESSENTIAL STANDARDS REGIONAL SUMMER INSTITUTES
Professional Development for District-level teams
In 2011, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) will kickoff an intensive, blended professional development (PD) initiative sponsored by ACRE and Race to the Top (RttT) for LEAs and Charter Schools. This blended PD will focus on the transition from the current Standard Course of Study to the new Common Core and Essential Standards for all content areas (Math, English/Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, World Languages, The Arts, Healthful Living and ESL). North Carolina will implement these new standards for all content areas during the 2012-13 school year.The blended PD initiative will begin with two (2) day face-to-face regional Summer Leadership Institutes LEA PD Leaders. NCDPI divisions, including Curriculum and Instruction, District and School Transformation, Educator Recruitment and Development, and Exceptional Children will facilitate the institutes.
