Join the NC Civic Education
Consortium, a program of UNC’s Program in the Humanities and Human Values, as
they present a special two-day training with one of the world’s most respected
World War II scholars, Dr. Gerhardt Weinberg. On day one, the Consortium will
provide training on engaging, student-centered World War II curriculum.
On day two, teachers will be
treated to a tour de force series of four lectures, as Gerhard L. Weinberg
explores the United States’ early involvement in the war, its activities in the
early phase of the war and efforts to aid the Allies and avoid war with Japan,
American strategy in the Pacific and European theaters of war, and the major changes
within U.S. society that occurred as a result of American war efforts. Whether
you’re familiar with Professor Weinberg’s amazing command of the complexities
of this war or new to our programs, you will not want to miss him explore these
topics and events that changed world history. This is a once in a
lifetime opportunity for World and US History teachers.

- Lunch
on Friday and Saturday; snacks on both days.
- Substitute
reimbursement (if your district cannot cover the cost*)
- One
night’s single occupancy hotel accommodations in Chapel Hill (for
participants residing more than 120 round-trip miles from the training
location.)
