Banding Together for Public Education

March 20-21, 2013
Raleigh Convention Center

The North Carolina Association of School Administrators is seeking teams of school or school district administrators to present breakout sessions at the 2013 Conference on Education Leadership. Those responsible for providing leadership in schools and school districts comprise the primary audience.

Presentation Criteria

To be considered for inclusion in the conference, proposals for breakout sessions must focus on how schools, district departments and superintendent leadership teams have been successful in developing and implementing an influence strategy within a school, district department or school district that has made a positive difference in the school and/or school district or how the school or school district has developed an initiative that relate to the conference theme Banding Together for Public Education and meet the following criteria:
  • Includes how the school or school district developed the influence strategy and how it was implemented.
  • Clearly describes how a process, policy, program, or strategy has been successful in one or more of the following areas:
    • Building public support for public schools
    • Gaining community support for sustained or increased funding for the public schools
    • Engaging ethnically and culturally diverse communities
    • Creating a cooperative and productive relationship between the school district and charter schools
    • Using social media to build support among parents for public education
    • Influencing local or state political support for public education
    • Influencing teachers and staff to make changes for the improvement of schools
    • Improving public perception of public education
  • The process, policy, program, or strategy must have been implemented by the school or school district in response to an identified need. Additionally, the process, policy, program or strategy must have been in effect long enough to have clearly demonstrated its effectiveness in some measurable way.
  • Show that the policy, strategy, program or process can be replicated in other districts.

Presentation Details

Breakout sessions will be presented on March 20-21, 2013. All breakout sessions will be 60 minutes.  

Process for Submitting a Breakout Session Proposal

To be considered as a presenter for participation in the 2013 Conference on Educational Leadership, please complete the Breakout Session Proposal form and submit by November 30, 2012.
Final selection of presentations will be made by January 1, 2013. Upon selection, contact persons will be notified immediately to confirm participation.
